In this retrospective review, the researchers intended to develop and validate a computed tomography (CT)–based scoring system for identifying those parapneumonic effusions (PPEs) requiring drainage. They suggested that a novel CT scoring system for adults with PPE might allow clinicians to foresee the requirement for chest tube drainage with good accuracy.
