LncRNA MCM3AP-AS1 sponges miR-148a to enhance cell invasion and migration in small cell lung cancer

Recent studies have characterized MCM3AP-AS1, a lncRNA, that plays an oncogenic role in several cancers. Researchers herein investigated its functions in small cell lung cancer (SCLC) and the possible underlying mechanisms. qPCR was used to analyze MCM3AP-AS1 and ROCK1 levels in SCLC patients. They performed RNA pull-down and luciferase assays to examine the interaction between MCM3AP-AS1 and miR-148a. Patients with SCLC show upregulation of MCM3AP-AS1, and a high MCM3AP-AS1 level was noted to be associated with a low survival rate. Findings suggest that MCM3AP-AS1 sponges miR-148a, thereby enhancing SCLC cell invasion and migration via upregulating ROCK1 expression.
