Admission high-sensitivity C-reactive protein levels improve the Grace risk score prediction on in-hospital outcomes in acute myocardial infarction patients

In acute myocardial infarction (AMI) patients, admission high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) level was found to be a significant independent risk factor for in-hospital results. An improved ability to accurately distinguish the occurrence of in-hospital outcomes could be obtained by incorporating hs-CRP in the Grace risk score (Global Registry of Acute Coronary Events).
This study included 1,804 patients with AMI who were divided into four groups by hs-CRP quartiles, and association between hs-CRP and Grace risk score was examined by Spearman rank correlation.
A significantly positive correlation was found between hs-CRP and Grace risk score.
hs-CRP integrated with Grace risk score could enhance the ability of Grace risk score alone to accurately redistinguish the occurrence of in-hospital outcome (C-statistic = 0.819; net reclassification improvement = 0.05956; integrated differentiation improvement = 0.0757).
