As far as evaluating treatment approach, surgery should be the first option considered.
"As we've had more effective therapies, both surgically and systemically, the frequency of actually developing either local, in-breast recurrences or the more troubling other locoregional recurrences such as in lymph nodes has become progressively less common," said William Gradishar, MD, professor of medicine, Northwestern University, Evanston, IL.
He outlined some of the management and treatment considerations in these cases.
