Annual Diagnostic Update in Pathology and Laboratory Medicine

This activity is targeted to practicing pathologists, pathology residents, and fellows. This course may also be of interest to subspecialty physicians and nurse practitioners who practice in gastroenterology, oncology, and hematology.

This activity will provide comprehensive coverage of selected topics in practical surgical pathology, cytopathology and laboratory medicine, including breast and gynecologic pathology, dermatopathology, hematopathology and laboratory management and provides review and update on the most current diagnostic terminology and criteria, emphasizes diagnostic issues encountered in everyday practice, and offers practical strategies on how to recognize potential pitfalls and how to approach challenging cases in a systematic and logical way.

Learning Objectives:

• Utilize updated criteria and terminology in pathologic diagnoses
• Identify characteristic and unusual morphologic features and discuss potential diagnostic pitfalls
• Apply current staging system for tumors presented
• Report confidence in using ancillary studies and ordering molecular tests
